Request items for curbside pickup now! Call 785-665-7266 or login to your account at nextkansas.org to make your request. At this time our library courier service isn’t running so we are limited to only Overbrook Library items.
Overbrook Library is working to restore library services, while also trying to minimize the risk to our library patrons and staff. In order to meet this challenge, we will be implementing a phased reopening plan approved by the Library Board on 5/5/2020.
We will move into “Phase 2” and begin curbside delivery service of locally held library items with item pickup starting Monday, 5/11/20. Item pickup will be available M-F from 12-6 PM. To request an item or items, you can call the library and talk to us / leave a message at 785-665-7266, or login to your library catalog account at nextkansas.org any time. You can request items starting now for Monday pickup. The statewide courier will not resume normal service for several weeks, so at this time we are limited to local holds only.
If you need printing/copies/faxes you can e-mail the documents to email@example.com or bring a physical copy of the item you need copies of. We will not be charging for printing/copies < $1 in order to minimize cash handling.
During phase 2, no members of the public will be allowed into the library building. Item pickups / copying drop offs will take place by the entrance on the west side of the building, and you can either call the library at 785-665-7266 when you arrive or knock on the back door and someone will be out to help you.
All library items should be returned in the drop box on the west side of the building. We are not accepting any book donations at this time.
Moving from phase to phase of library operations will be a library board decision in line with recommendations from both library organizations (NEKLS, KLA, ALA) and local / state / national health agencies. In addition, we need to be able to obtain necessary staff protective equipment and cleaning supplies for disinfecting items, computers, and surfaces / door handles in later phases.
In accordance with state guidelines on large gatherings, the community room remains closed at this time.
Thanks for your understanding. We are looking forward to seeing you soon from a socially responsible distance.
Due to the storms and power outages around Overbrook yesterday, we have moved out Special Library Board Meeting to today, Tuesday 5/5 @ 1pm. The zoom link remains the same.
As you may have heard, the Gov. announced statewide reopening plans Thursday evening (4/30/20) and libraries are included among the business that are able to begin reopening in Phase 1 when the stay-at-home order ends starting Monday, 5/4/20. The statewide reopening plan is available here: https://covid.ks.gov/ad-astra-a-plan-to-reopen-kansas/

We will be taking the recommendations of NEKLS, KLA, and ALA into consideration, as well communicating with the city and complying with Osage County Health Deparment directives for our plan. We are currently discussing a phased reopening plan, beginning with curbside service for locally held library items in the near future.
I plan to post details of the plan once approved on our website and on facebook, and announce our date to begin curbside service and procedures for making requests.
Thank you for you patience as we work to restore service while ensuring the safety of staff and our patrons. I have attached the agenda for the library board meeting on Monday 5/4/20.

Thanks for your understanding as we move things online for the (hopefully short term) future.
Due to current State and National Guidance on COVID-19, Overbrook Public Library will be extending our closure indefinitely.
Our re-opening date will be announced when determined via website, library signage and phone message. Call 785-665-7266 and leave a message or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance during our closure.
The health and safety of our community, patrons and staff are always our top priority at the Overbrook Public Library. On Monday, March 16 the White House COVID-19 task force made the recommendation that gatherings be limited to no more than 10 people and that gathering places in states that have had community transmission of the virus should be closed for the next 15 days.
In line with these recommendations, the Overbrook Public Library Board has decided to close the library, Community Room and Library Conference Room from this day through Tuesday, March 31st. The board will reconvene before that date to evaluate the need for additional closures.
All library due dates will be extended through our closure. We will be notifying those with community room reservations during this closure and refunding deposits, but are not rescheduling Community Room or Conference Room events until we have reopened.
In addition, no book donations will be accepted until further notice.
During this time, we would encourage you to use your library card to check out digital items using Hoopla, and we will be increasing the digital checkout limit from 5 to 10 items per month. There are also e-book options available through the Kansas State Library at kslib.info. If you need help getting set up with Hoopla or need a state library e-card, you can e-mail email@example.com, and we would be happy to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding.
Due to school closures, Overbrook Public Library will be closed Monday 3/16/2020 in order to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
The library board will be meeting to discuss plans for any additional closures with more information available this evening.
Overbrook Library will be closed due to weather Thursday 2/13/20.
